Two Days-Two Winners For Freshman Sire State City

In less than 24 hours, Buck Pond Farm’s freshman sire STATE CITY racked up his first two winners at Churchill Downs and Woodbine, respectively. On Thursday night, July 2, his son Green N Goldie, out of the Gilded Time mare, Time to Glitter, won the 5th race at Churchill by ¾ of a length. The colt pressed the pace from the start of the 5 ½ furlong race gaining the advantage in the stretch. Congratulations to owner 123 Red Stable, LLC, trainer Angel Montano and jockey Miguel Mena. Green N Goldie was bred in Kentucky by Constancia Farm LLC, R-Squared Stables & Buck Pond Farm.

On the afternoon of July 3, Rocketman Rob fired away in the 2nd race at Woodbine. Sent off as the heavy favorite in the $43,000 maiden event, Rocketman Rob pressed a rapid pace for the 4 ½ furlongs, with fractions of 22 2/5 for the quarter and 45 4/5 for the half. The colt took the lead for good turning for home and won easily by 2 lengths, finishing up in 52 1/5. Congratulations to owner Tucci Stables, trainer Sid Attard and jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson. Rocketman Rob was bred in Kentucky by E. H. “Beau” Lane, III.

STATE CITY is a son of Carson City and the only Champion and Grade 1 winner by the late sire standing in Kentucky. State City won the Dubai Gold Shaheen-G1 on World Cup Day 2003.
