Buck Pond-Breds Shine
Several graduates of the Buck Pond program have been making a splash on the racetrack recently. In the past week, 2 runners racing for Buck Pond owner Douglas S. Arnold have graduated to the winners’ circle. Southern Accents, a 3yo filly by Birdstone (sire of 2 classic winners in his first crop) out of the stakes placed Affirmed mare Spring Valley, ran away with her 2nd start. Leading throughout from the rail, Southern Accents won the Maiden Special Weight at Charles Town by 5 lengths under jockey Larry Reynolds. Bred, raised and broken at Buck Pond Farm, the Kentucky bred filly is trained by Tim Grams. Southern Accents hails from the class filled immediate family of Kentucky Oaks-G1 winner Sardula and multiple G1 winner Imperial Gesture.
Grams also sent out Arnold’s 3yo filly Mateus on July 1 to prevail in a maiden event at Charles Town by nearly 2 lengths. The Kentucky bred chestnut filly by Cuvee out of the El Amante mare Josie G. was ridden by Larry Reynolds. Look for her outstanding yearling ½ sister by Buck Pond stallion Crafty Shaw at the 2009 Fasig Tipton October yearling sale.
And last but certainly not least, the filly Bandora, bred by Doug Arnold and raised and broken at Buck Pond, is now stakes placed for owner Branch Equine, LLC and trainer Ronny Werner. Congratulations to all her connections. Bandora, Mateus and Southern Accents were all bred, raised and broken at Buck Pond Farm. Don’t forget Buck Pond when planning where to purchase or start your next runner. We still have two year olds at the track and at the farm available for your inspection.
